Breakthrough: First Full Faculty Graduate Programs
Established in Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology

Santa Barbara Graduate Institute opened in October 2000 with degree programs in the pioneering fields of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and in Somatic Psychology. Since then additional degrees have been added in Counseling Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Distinguished faculty continue to offer courses in Santa Barbara, California for three-day weekends each month, Fall through Spring, and a six-day learning intensive each Summer. The degrees now being offered are:
M.A. and Ph.D in Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology
M.A. and Ph.D in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology
Ph.D. in Somatic Psychology
Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Somatic Psychology
M.A. and Ph.D in Clinical Psychology

These graduate degree programs are designed for persons who may already be involved in the healing arts, education, or work with pregnant women, babies or young children and families and who want to incorporate a pre- and perinatal psychology perspective. The programs provide a solid foundation in pre- and perinatal theory and application as well as important counseling and therapeutic skills. Students have an option of taking additional courses leading toward a Marriage and Family Therapist license in the State of California.

Pioneers, leading edge practitioners, researchers, and educators come together as faculty to create a remarkable graduate education experience. The core of these new programs is experiential inquiry within the context of a nurturing community. Santa Barbara Graduate Institute's mission is to provide synergistic education that nurtures the innate wisdom of the whole person, the development of their vision, strengths, knowledge, and skills and the expression of their unique contribution in the world.

Students are encouraged to integrate personal and professional experience and the latest research findings to develop their own style as educators, clinicians, researchers, and health care professionals. Santa Barbara Graduate Institute has been granted full approval as a degree-granting institution from the California Bureau for Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Education. The school is located at 525 E.
